I've had this same problem before, I'm not getting any satellites when restarting the TT so I'm connecting to tomtom home to update the quickgpsfix and I'm getting an error in the home program: 'Error when contacting server: You have an invalid version of the tomtom application installed etc'.
then copied the 7688 map folder into the drive and it patched ok with fastactivate. I started again by wiping the drive as I had tried other stuff out earlier like updates etc I did the reset till it showed as no maps etc.
